RADA ŠEŠIĆ

Born in Croatia, lived in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is now living in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Head of the documentary competition at Sarajevo FF, where she co-heads the Docu Rough Cut Boutique. Makes documentaries and short dance films, previously in Sarajevo, later on in the Netherlands – Lam Arabi, 1990, Room Without a View, 1997, Soske, 2001, In Whitest Solitude, 2002, Way to School, 2007. Her films were screened at some 60 festivals and archived at MoMA. In the last decade turned towards programming for several festivals: on the selection committee of two biggest festivals in the Netherlands: IDFA Amsterdam and IFFR Rotterdam. Tutor at many docs workshops in Europe and Asia (Nyon, Krakow, Prague, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Sofia, Thessaloniki, Riga, Istanbul, Belgrade, Sarajevo). For 7 years taught Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam and at Srishti Institute in Bangalore, India. Currently lecturer on the Master of Film course at NFTA Amsterdam. Artistic director of the Eastern Neighbours FF in The Hague. Specialised in South Asian cinema, lived in India, was steady programmer for Kerala IFF. Currently on the selection committee of the Hubert Bals Fund (IFFRotterdam) and the Doha Film Institute Fund. Selector of the documentary competition at Let’s CEE Festival Vienna. Jury member at some 50 festivals in Europe and Asia. Has collaborated on several books on cinema in the UK, the USA, India. Has published articles on cinema in Film Guide Variety, the Dutch Skrien, Croatian Film Annual and the Bosnian Sineast. With friends, started festival DOKU Art in her birthplace Bjelovar 13 years ago.
