Project Description

Special Screening (out of competition)

Deeply moved by the persecution of mothers and children in Nazi-occupied Croatia, an Austrian housewife Diana Budisavljević embarks on a perilous campaign, rescuing more than 10 000 children from the ill-famed Ustasha camps. Initially working in her favour, Diana’s Austrian descent later becomes a burden, and the main reason why one of the greatest humanitarian stories of WWII was left untold.

The film won the Best Picture Golden Arena award at Pula film festival, and Dana Budisavljević was awarded Golden Arena for the Best Director at the same festival.
