Saturday at RAFF brings a full day of films for audiences of all generations, from the morning RAFF Junior screening and an award-winning documentary about civil resistance to the rescheduled RAFF Intro screening of Heysel 85, student films, the official opening of the 8th RAFF and an evening of music at Festival Square Pjaceta.
10:30 – Cinema Rab | RAFF JUNIOR: PIXIE
The day begins with Pixie, a family adventure about friendship, loss and preserving memories of those who are no longer with us. Eleven-year-old Hania, who believes in pixies, becomes a victim of bullying and sets out to prove that the fairy-tale creatures really exist. Together with Michał, a school outsider, she embarks on an adventure that teaches her about friendship, honesty and coming to terms with the loss of her mother.
The film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. Pixie is dubbed in Croatian and has English subtitles.
12:30 – Cinema Rab | EVERYBODY TO KENMURE STREET
At 12:30, RAFF presents Everybody to Kenmure Street, directed by Felipe Bustos Sierra, winner of the Special Award for Civil Resistance at the Sundance Film Festival.
When the UK Home Office launched a dawn raid in Glasgow on the first day of Eid in May 2021, hundreds of residents of Kenmure Street rushed to the scene to prevent the deportation of their neighbours. The film captures one of the most spontaneous acts of civil resistance in recent memory.

18:00 – Cinema Rab | RAFF INTRO: HEYSEL 85
The screening of Heysel 85, directed by Teodora Ana Mihai, which was postponed due to adverse weather conditions, will take place at 18:00. The Belgian-Dutch drama reconstructs the events surrounding the European Cup Final between Liverpool and Juventus at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels in May 1985.
At the centre of the story are Marie, the daughter of the mayor of Brussels, and Italian television journalist Luca Rossi. As violence at the stadium escalates and claims dozens of lives, Luca tries to find his family while continuing to report, while Marie is forced to take over her father’s responsibilities and make fateful decisions.
The film premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and is presented as part of RAFF’s Partner Country: Kingdom of Belgium programme.
20:00 – Cinema Murnau | STUDENT SHORT FILMS – UNIVERSITY VERN’
At Cinema Murnau, the audience can see a 90-minute selection of short films by students of University VERN’.

20:15 – Open Air Cinema | OPENING OF THE 8TH RAFF: SUNDAYS
The official opening of the 8th Rab Film Festival brings Sundays, the acclaimed Spanish family drama directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa.
The film follows 17-year-old Ainara as she faces profound life and career decisions while her secular family wrestles with questions of faith and their relationships with one another. Through an intimate family story, the film explores the generational gap and the pressure of family expectations in contemporary society.
Sundays won five Goya Awards, including Best Film.
22:00 – Festival Square Pjaceta | RAFF BEAT: ELVIS STANIĆ AIRes COLLECTIVE
Saturday concludes at Festival Square Pjaceta with Elvis Stanić AIRes Collective as part of the RAFF Beat programme.
