RAFF Cinema program has 12 feature films nominated for awards, and another 14 films out of competition, as a part of a band new festival feature Kino Murnau. This year, RAFF is hosting hits from festivals in Cannes, Berlin, Venice and Pula. 8 out of 12 films in RAFF are Croatian openings. Stories they tell are from across the world, on various topics.
Possibly the main attraction of this RAFF edition would be the presentation our new feature – Kino Murnau – dedicated to 100 years since the premiere of the oldest feature film made on locations in Croatia – „The grand duke’s finances“– directed by one of the most known directors in the world cinema history F.W. Murnau. It was filmed on this very island – Rab.
Festival venues are being prepared for the events, despite the bad weather forecast, thanks to our partners from Dundovo company.
Hoping still to have good weather during our movie nights, Rab is welcoming our guests, some of them already arrived. Among them is renown Croatian composer and pianist Matej Meštrović, who will be playing during the Kino Murnau projections.
RAFF Talks is focused on discussions about propaganda and how to fight it, with several guests from the region – distinguished journalists Zoran Kusovac, Nataša Božić, Mila Moralić, Aleksandar Trifunović, Silvana Menđušić, Žarka Radoja and others.
We are also proud to present a series of RAFF Talks with Elizabeta Gojan, who is in a way reviving her former TV talk show now live on Rab. Ladies will be guests in “The Queens Gambit”, and gentleman in “Bishop’s Prey” formats.
The first of the talks will be with the most famous Croatian opera diva Dunja Vejzović, followed by musical legend and a writer Zoran Predin, presenting his latest book. Other guests will be Croatian actress Snježana Sinovčić – Šiškov, regional acting star Goran Bogdan, and talks will be concluded with an Oscar nominated producer Nebojša Slijepčević.
RAFF’s music program never disappoints – so here are the treats in next few days on Festival Square Pjaceta. RAFF Beat will present Kristijan Beluhan Quintet, Maja Posavec and Ivan Kapec – The evening with Leonard Cohen, and our old friend Zoran Predin Unplugged.
It is a special honour to greet our Partner country this year – The Netherlands. We will be showing two Dutch films and several Dutch co-productions in our programs, one of the is The Propagandist, directed by Luuka Bouwman
Aslo, we are happy to have Margje de Koning as our jury member. Margje is the art director of one of the biggest human rights film festivals in the world Movies that Matter. Along with her, members of RAFF jury are Croatian producer Vanja Jambrović and actor Goran Bogdan.
