At 9 PM on Festival Square Pjaceta KINO MURNAU program is introduced, by showing of the film „Finances of the Grand Duke“
Exactly one hundred years after its world distribution and Croatian premiere, the silent film “Finances of the Grand Duke” by director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, one of the most important directors in the history of world cinema, will have its premiere in Rab. Filmed on Rab, a year after Murnau’s cult film “Nosferatu”, it was only shown once in Croatia, in 1925, in Zagreb. It has never been shown publicly on Rab. It is the oldest surviving foreign film production in Croatia. This gala screening, marking the centennial of its Croatian premiere, will be accompanied live on the concert piano by the celebrated Croatian composer and pianist Matej Meštrović. On this occasion, at the Rab premiere of this film on the Pjaceta Festival Square, where part of this film was filmed, we are also opening a completely new festival venue – the Murnau Cinema.
