THE HELSINKI EFFECT

87’, Finland, Germany, Norway, 2025, dir. Arthur Franck

Thirty-five world leaders gathered in the Finlandia Hall in Helsinki on July 29, 1975, for a three-day session at the height of the Cold War called the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the Helsinki Accords. Based on hundreds of hours of archival footage, this film exposes a diplomatic process that is often not taken seriously enough and reveals how it had a decisive impact on the world.
