Ahead of the 5th anniversary RAFF – Rab Film Festival, it’s time to discover its program under this year’s joint motto – Dive into the sea of ​​truth. As part of the RAFF Cinema program, whose schedule of screenings we will announce in a few days, we are expecting screenings of 10 films in competition and 2 out of competition, as well as 4 special screenings. This year’s RAFF brings films from Cannes, Berlin, Karlovy Vary, Venice, Sarajevo, Pula… The Rab audience brings stories from all over the world, various topics – from the fight for women’s rights in Iran (Seven Winters in Tehran), taking over our identities on social networks (The Other Profile) fraud of our elderly lonely fellow citizens (Blaga’s Lessons), life without parents (Scrapper), illegal transport of migrants (Behind The Haystacks), environmental pollution with plastic (Plastic Fantastic), pressure on family life (Subtraction), forgiveness (The Happiest Man in the World ), the war that does not stop in Ukraine (Eastern Front), the coexistence of two cultures in one marriage (Snajka – diary of expectations). The screening of Goran Kulenović‘s film “The Death of The Little Match Girl” based on Zoran Ferić‘s novel will be special for the Rab audience. The film was entirely shot in Rab, with the support of the City of Rab, the Open University of Rab, TZ Rab and TZ Lopar, and the wholehearted help and participation of the people of Rab. Through the lens of director of photography Mirko Pivčević, Rab becomes the protagonist of the big screen for the first time, with a cast led by Ozren Grabarić and Goran Navojec. We will open the 5th RAFF with this film, and due to the great interest of the rap audience, for this occasion this film will be shown simultaneously in as many as three cinemas – the Summer Cinema, the Winter Cinema and the completely new Kino Kulica cinema, which the RAFF co-organizers are setting up for this occasion from the ground up.

In addition to the film program, the Festival also brings the RAFF Talk program – in which the topic of the relationship between film festivals and tourism, the existence of film workers in film, investigative journalism, and dealing with the past will be discussed. The Rab audience will have the opportunity to talk with Zrinka Cvitešić, Vedran Mlikota, Borko Perić, Pjero Žalić, Rene Bitorajec, Jasna Žalić, Neand Puhovski, Igor Mirković, Silvana Menđušić, Maja Sever, Elma Tataragić.

The RAFF Generation educational program brings lectures by Professor Tena Perišin and Professor Nenad Puhovski from Zagreb, and Professor Janet Harris from Cardiff (UK), and journalist Elizabeta Gojan.

RAFF this year also presents its new RAFF Festival Square Varoš, where the aforementioned talks will take place, as well as the music program RAFF Beat. At that meeting place of the audience and film workers, the duo LaPapa, already well known to the Rab audience, will play followed by the Amsterdam-Zagreb soul attraction Soul Shadows. It is with great pleasure that we announce a special musical concert treat of this year’s Festival – Radojka Šverko Sings Film Music. Ms. Šverko and her orchestra, for the 5th anniversary of RAFF, bring us songs from film classics and hits, in the atmosphere of the beautiful stone Summer Cinema on Rab.
