Ahead of the 6th RAFF – Rab Film Festival (23.27.8), it’s time to reveal its program under this year’s common catchphrase – Truth needs an audience. As part of the RAFF Cinema program, we are expecting screenings of 10 films in the competition, 2 out of it, and 1 special screening. This year’s RAFF brings films from Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Sarajevo, Pula… Out of 11 films in the program of this year’s RAFF, as many as 5 of them are Croatian premieres. To the Rap audience, RAFF brings stories from all over the world, various topics – from the fight against social injustice (Les Indésirables, dir. Ladj Ly, Croatian premiere), ecological issues in our vicinity (The Sky above Zenica, dir. Nanna Frank Møller and Zlatko Pranjić, Croatian premiere ), strong individuals in impossible conditions (The Promised Land, dir. Nikolaj Arcel, Croatian premiere), pets before justice (Dog on Trial, dir. Laetitia Dosch), dealing with the past (El Shatt, dir. Ivan Ramljak), and personal failings (The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, dir. Nebojša Slijepčević), to revenge and the fight for the truth ( The Wrath of God, dir. Kristijan Milić), family (Our Children, dir. Silvestar Kolbas), wars that never end (No Other Land, dir. Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal), love that society forbids (My Favorite Cake, dir. Maryam Moghaddam, Behtash Sanaeeha), and love that even illness does not stop (The Eternal Memory, dir. Maite Alberdi). The screening of Danis Tanović’s film “My Late Summer”, another Croatian premiere, will be held right after its world premiere at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
In addition to the film program, the Festival also brings the RAFF Talk program, in which this year’s focus is on the topic of misinformation and the fight against it. Diplomats – ambassadors of Denmark and Sweden, Ole Henrik Frijs-Madsen and Anna Katarina Boda, as well as journalists Elizabeta Gojan, Silvana Menđušić and Aleksandar Trifunović along with professor Tena Perišin – will speak about this topic to the Rab audience. Otherwise, the Kingdom of Denmark is a partner country for this year’s edition of RAFF, with the great help of its embassy in Croatia.
The RAFF Generation educational program brings lectures by professor Nenad Puhovski, film critic Vladan Petković, directors Nebojša Slijepčević, Danilo Šerbedžija, Igor Mirković and Silvestr Kolbas, producers Martichka Bozhilova and Vanja Jambrović, as well as the aforementioned journalists Silvana Menđušić and Aleksandar Trifunović.
This year, RAFF is also bringing a program to RAFF Festival Square Varoš, the festival square where the aforementioned talks will take place, as well as the RAFF Beat music program. At that meeting place of the audience and film workers, the Amsterdam-Zagreb attraction Soul Shadows, already well known to the rap audience, will play with the great vocalist Sabrina Hebiri, and then the Amsterdam-Zagreb soul attraction Soul Shadows. It is with great pleasure that we announce a special musical concert treat of this year’s Festival – Zdenka Kovačiček & Greenhouse Blues Band. With them, the rap audience will be able to dance with the world-famous DJ Maestro, who is coming to Rab as part of his mini-European tour, for two nights.
