Sunday at the Rab Film Festival brings a packed programme from morning until late at night – from RAFF Talk and RAFF Junior, through Croatian premieres of acclaimed international documentaries, to films dealing with journalism, war, identity and the threats of totalitarianism. The day concludes with music at Festival Square Pjaceta.

10:00 – Festival Square Pjaceta | RAFF TALK BY ELIZABETA GOJAN: BISHOP SACRIFICE – GORAN NAVOJEC

Sunday begins at Pjaceta with another edition of Bishop Sacrifice, hosted by Elizabeta Gojan. Her guest is acclaimed Croatian actor Goran Navojec.

10:30 – Cinema Rab | RAFF JUNIOR: THE CRYSTAL PLANET

The youngest RAFF audience can enjoy The Crystal Planet, directed by Arsen Anton Ostojić and winner of the Special Golden Arena at the Pula Film Festival.

Eleven-year-old Rea moves to the Crystal Planet, where her father has taken a job at a factory that manufactures robotic animals. Together with her new friend Edi, she embarks on an adventure to protect a rare creature and the extraordinary world hidden beneath the planet’s surface.

The film is dubbed in Croatian.

11:00 – Festival Square Pjaceta | RAFF TALK: JOURNALISM IN ARTISTIC FORMS

Can journalism find a new life through film, literature and other artistic forms? The discussion brings together Dražen Klarić, Silvana Menđušić, Zoran Kesić, Marko Stričević, Tena Perišin and Igor Mirković.

12:30 – Cinema Rab | MARIINKA

The programme continues with Mariinka, directed by Pieter-Jan De Pue, an epic and visionary film shot over the course of ten years.

Set in the town of Mariinka in Eastern Ukraine, the film follows several young Ukrainians whose lives have been permanently shaped by more than a decade of war in the Donbas, including two brothers fighting on opposing sides. It is a story about belonging, national loyalty and the point at which political conflict can overpower even blood ties.

The film is presented as part of RAFF’s Partner Country: Kingdom of Belgium programme.

18:30 – Cinema Rab | ZLATAN’S NOSE

Someone has stolen the nose from the statue of world-famous football star Zlatan Ibrahimović. A film crew hires a private detective to solve the mystery, setting off a hilarious and playful true-crime investigation.

Zlatan’s Nose, directed by Nils Toftenow, Mathias Rosberg and Olle Toftenow, comes to RAFF for its Croatian premiere.

20:00 – Cinema Murnau | VJESNIK – LAST EDITION

Directed by Dražen Klarić, Vjesnik – Last Edition goes beyond the conventional chronicle of the closure of a legendary media outlet. It is an emotional and analytical story about an era, two countries and two fundamentally different political systems.

At its centre stands Zagreb’s iconic Vjesnik skyscraper, a building that becomes a mirror of a society undergoing profound change. The documentary gives a voice to those who lived, worked and helped create that period.

20:15 – Open Air Cinema | FEELS LIKE HOME

Sunday evening at the Open Air Cinema brings Feels Like Home, directed by Gábor Holtai, a powerful thriller and allegory about the threats of totalitarianism.

One evening, Rita is abducted by a man who insists she is Szilvi, his missing sister. Forced to assume another woman’s identity inside a strange family, she is locked in a bleak apartment and forbidden to leave. As the situation becomes increasingly sinister, Rita desperately searches for a way out of the psychological nightmare.

22:00 – Festival Square Pjaceta | RAFF BEAT: GORAN TOMIĆ & IVAN ARNOLD

The day ends at Pjaceta with Goran Tomić & Ivan Arnold and an evening of piano-guitar flamenco fusion.
