The eighth Rab Film Festival began on Saturday, 22 August, with a workshop for its youngest participants. The first workshop of this year’s RAFF Junior programme, designed for young audiences and families, was held at the Rab City Library, where eleven young film enthusiasts took their first steps into filmmaking.
After getting to know one another and taking part in drama games under the guidance of Teo Bekavac, they learned basic filmmaking terms such as scene and shot, but did not stop at theory. They explored scripts and filmmaking equipment and, while shooting their first scenes, tried their hand both in front of and behind the camera. On their very first day, they discovered just how many ideas, discussions and teamwork it takes to make a film.
The participants concluded the day’s workshop with a visit to the Winter Cinema for a screening of the film ‘Pixie’.
The festival days ahead will bring many new filmmaking experiences, from a screening of the animated film ‘Crystal Planet’ and meetings with actors Marko Spiridonović and Goran Navojec to the lecture ‘How to Be a Little Big Actor’.
After the preparations, the participants will experience a real film shoot at locations in the centre of Rab, joined by actor Goran Grgić. The film created by this year’s RAFF Junior generation will premiere at the closing ceremony of the 8th Rab Film Festival at the Open-Air Cinema, where the participants will also receive certificates of recognition.
