Ángela is a young deaf woman who is expecting a child with her hearing partner Héctor. With time, Ángela’s fears about motherhood grow, and after the birth of her daughter, she struggles with fulfilling her maternal role in a world not adapted to deaf people, but also with Héctor’s misunderstanding. A powerful and touching drama directed by Eva Libertad is a semi-biographical story by the lead actress Miriam Garlo. Using Spanish Sign Language and witty sound effects, the film authentically depicts the life of a deaf woman, raising a child in a world she feels she doesn’t belong to.
Winner of the Audience Award at the Berlinale.
